The CY 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule changes how Medicare pays for a range of Part B services. This practical session will explain key updates affecting physician and practitioner payment, same-day evaluation and management (E/M) visits and procedures, E/M complexity add-on billing, remote monitoring, and selected quality and accountable care requirements.
We’ll review the rule’s operational implications for coding, documentation, claims workflows, and practice planning. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of which changes may require attention before they take effect and where to focus staff education and billing-system updates.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
CMS finalized the RPM/RTM initiating-visit and RTM established-patient policies for 2027, while delaying the employed-clinical-staff requirement until 2029. The rule also includes changes to quality reporting and the Shared Savings Program.
CMS finalized a change that reduces payment for the other service when a separately identifiable office/outpatient E/M visit is billed with a 0-day global procedure on the same day. It also finalized modifier B1 for G2211 and modifier B2 for qualifying ACO practitioners.
